The Moves & ProgressionIdeally you will start in a Beginners' classs, then progress through Improvers, then Intermediates to the Advanced class, but there are no rigid rules so speak to me when you feel you are ready to move up a class or even skip one of the levels.
The moves are nearly all known by their Spanish names but don't be put off because after a little while it all becomes second nature. The names are the calls given when we all dance together in rueda (the cuban wheel). With a few tweaks all the moves can also be done when you are partner dancing. Here are examples of the moves that are taught within the different classes. I aim to include a mix of old favourites plus new moves in each of the classes. In that way you can build your repertoire progressively. We do not expect perfection only enjoyment! Have fun!
We also do the following footwork shines as a warm-up sequence.
Please speak to me when you feel you are ready to move up a class. Once you have mastered all these, and can call the moves, you are ADVANCED. Go dance! Music:I am often asked about what music to buy and where to get it from. This is my fave list - hope you like it too. |
